Weekly Featured Date: Nightmare at the Shadowbox

This week’s Weekly Featured Date is Nightmare at the Shadowbox in Newport on the Levee.  This place gets points because it combines food, drinks, and activity all in to one stop.  And if you’re coming from Lexington, you got the nice ride there and back for plenty of great conversation. Check out more info at http://www.newportonthelevee.com/directory/detail.aspx?id=35 I for one can’t wait to go!

The days are getting cooler, the nights are getting longer, and the fun is just beginning at Shadowbox this fall, as the case of The Sketch Comedy & Rock ‘n’ Roll Club presents Nightmare at Shadowbox!  This collection of sinister sketch comedy and haunting music is now showing at Shadowbox at Newport on the Levee.

Audiences can expect a fun ride on their visit to Nightmare at Shadowbox, as the Shadowbox crew of meta-performers handles every aspect of their experience.  As an artist-owned and operated venue, the actors double as wait staff, ushers, bartenders and cooks in their raw, warehouse environment.

The action gets better when the cast hits the stage for a two-hour performance dedicated to scaring you silly!  Included are trio of classic ghouls looking for love in all the wrong places in Monster Dating Game, a rude awakening in Welcome to Hell, and a daring break for freedom in Escape from Happy-Tots.  Shadowbox’s house band, BillWho?, will rock its way through the comedy offerings with show stopping covers of music from Ozzy Osbourne, Blue Oyster Cult, Pearl Jam, 30 Seconds from Mars and many others.

“The fall show is always an exciting time for us,” said Steve Guyer, Shadowbox Executive Producer.  “While the summer show [Best of Shadowbox] is full of great material, we are anxious to put some new comedy and music up for our audiences, and we’re looking forward to bringing that energy to the stage very soon.”

Nightmare at Shadowbox will run Thursdays – Saturdays until November 27th.  Show times are 7:30 p.m. each evening, with 10:30 p.m. shows available on Fridays and Saturdays.  Tickets are $30 for adults, and $20 for students, seniors, and active military personnel.  Be sure to come early and enjoy food and drinks from Shadowbox’s bistro-style kitchen, served by the actors before the show and during intermission.  For more information and reservations, call (859) 957-ROCK or visit http://www.shadowboxlive.org.
